Rainbows & Roses ~ Thurby Night Soirée hosted by Louisville's LGBTQ+ Community Coalition
On Thursday, May 4, Louisville's LGBTQ+ Community Coalition presents the first annual Rainbows & Roses Soirée at Lola and PLAY Louisville. Rainbows & Roses is the perfect event for those who want to “soirée their way” at Louisville’s most diverse Derby party. Featuring fashion, art, aerial shows, and drag and vogue performances spread across two venues, it is sure to be one unforgettable party with a purpose!
“Rainbows & Roses Soirée is the first fundraiser of the LGBTQ+ Community Coalition, and will support the Coalition’s efforts to establish a community center by hiring a Coordinator,” said Josh Miller, event Chair and founding member of the LGBTQ+ Community Coalition. “Our town halls and monthly community meetings have been organized by volunteers up to now. To realize the dream of an LGBTQ+ Community Center, we need expanded capacity – so purchasing a ticket, sponsoring the event, or donating to the cause all make a tremendous difference.”
Soirée guests can expect an immersive environment. In partnership with Campari, VIP ticket holders will enjoy an open bar and hors d’oeuvres by Chef Bobby Benjamin at Lola above Butchertown Grocery, while enjoying an experience that includes art installations and stage performances by LouisVogue (members depicted below) and Acting Against Cancer performance troupes.
“LouisVogue is extremely excited to make its debut performance at the Rainbows & Roses Soirée,” said Jaison Gardner, event planning member and Curator of LouisVogue.“Most folks know about voguing as a popular dance form, however our contemporary LGBTQ culture has deep roots in the House Ball culture that began in 1920s New York City. As Louisville’s own ball scene celebrates turning 15 years old, LouisVogue looks forward to sharing the artistry and magic of the ball scene with partygoers."
At PLAY Louisville, aerial performers Suspend will greet guests as they enjoy sweet treats from Cake Flour and Spotz Gelato, florals by Boston's Floral Couture, beats by DJ Crizchin, and a fashion show by James Coomer. Sponsored by Heaven Hill, Latrice Royale of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars will headline a drag show in an evening that will also include a performance by LouisVogue and video projections presented by 21c Museum Hotel. Production at PLAY Louisville is organized by Fair Event Vendors Alliance (FEVA).
General admission to PLAY is $10. VIP tickets for Lola are $150 and include access to PLAY.
Rainbows & Roses creates a space for everyone - including gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer folks and their straight allies - to come together and celebrate in spaces that are created by and for the LGBTQ+ community.
